We walk along the harbour side to Marine Road, then cross Salmoor Way to Hadrian’s Cycle Way. Turn right and walk along earth paths above the Grasslot shore. After a short rest we return the way we came with views of the pier.
We can return via the Coastguard Office and Lifeboat Station and cross the harbour bridge to the aquarium, depending on whether the bridge is raised at high tide to allow boats in and out of the Elizabeth Dock.
Wildlife interest: Watch out for birds on the shore (oyster catchers, red shanks and ringed plovers), depending on the tide.
