Walk from Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre enjoying the paths and footpaths around the edge of the town

Join our walk leaders on a grade 3, 60 minute walk from Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre in Stowmarket, taking the footpaths and paths away from the main roads, walking round the Chiltern Playing fields, sticking to rural paths out of the town.

As we look to restart this walk from the leisure centre, dogs will not be welcome, assistant dogs only. Parking and toilets will be available at the leisure centre and why not grab a coffee in the cafe after the walk. Due to some of the terrain, this walk is not accessible to wheelchair users at this current time. There are buses that stop at the end of the road, near the high school.

Start:

Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre Mental Health Awareness week Walk

Join the walk leaders on a 60 minute, grade 3 walk from Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre as another way to support Mental Health Awareness Week and the importance of being active, walking with people and having the opportunity to talk to like minded people, oh and don't forget the coffee afterwards.

The walk will meet at the reception of Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre and will look to take a route which may include some rural paths and footpaths. 

Assistance dogs only on this walk. 

Parking for walkers is at the Leisure Centre. Toilets and refreshments available at the leisure centre as well.

Start:

Woolpit short and long village walk, nr Bury

Woolpit short and long village walks. Meet at the The Bull Inn, Woolpit, from 11.15am for a 11.30am start. Route 1 finishes back at the pub after 30 minutes and the second route continues along local footpaths for a further 40 minutes. Book in advance at the pub for lunch or coffee. Dogs welcome on short leads. Free parking in the village car park, opposite the church, or at The Bull Inn.

Walk along Old Norwich Road Walk from Whitton Football Club towards Claydon and back

Join the walk leaders on a gentle 2.5-mile, grade 1 walk taking you up Old Norwich Road towards Claydon and back. The majority of the walk is on flat and paved surfaces so is wheelchair accessible for those with some mobility issues. A lighter walk is great for those starting to get into walking.

The meet point is Whitton Football Club, Old Norwich Road, Ipswich - IP1 6LE.

There is parking available at Whitton Football Club where walkers can get a coffee at the club or from Combat Coffee after the walk. Toilets are also accessible here.

Please note, assistant dogs only on this walk. This walk is accessible via pubic transport.

An enjoyable 2.5-mile walk taking you up Old Norwich Road and through the fields and footpaths towards Akenham and back down to the football club. The majority of the walk is on footpaths and well-walked fields so isn’t wheelchair accessible but may be OK for those with slight mobility issues with support. There are some small gradients.

There is parking available at the Football Club where there are toilets available as well. Why not grab a coffee at the football club after the walk, or from Combat Coffee.

A more challenging, grade 5, 4-mile walk taking you up Old Norwich Road and through the fields and footpaths through Akenham and back down to the football club. The majority of the walk is on footpaths, bridleways and well-walked fields with some narrow access points so isn’t wheelchair accessible and may not be appropriate for those with mobility issues. There are some small gradients.

Assistance dogs only on this walk.

The meet point is at Whitton Clinic, Meredith Road, Ipswich, IP1 6ED where there is car parking and toilets available. Why not grab a coffee from Combat Coffee after the walk.

Woodbridge and Surrounding Area (Playford)

This is one of a series of walks that is based in and around Woodbridge. This one starts and finishes at Playford Village Hall and takes in the beautiful Fynn Valley. walk passes through meadows, ponds, and woodland with stunning views over the valley. Can be muddy so sturdy footwear recommended. Also depending on the route, it may involve two stiles.

This is a grade 5 walk due to the varied terrain and possible stiles on the walk.

Stanton Wellbeing Walk, near Bury St Edmunds

This is a beginners and improvers gentle and adaptable walk, inviting connection with others and nature.

It explores the pretty village of Stanton with its windmill and grundle. The walk is graded between 1-3 and is up to 60 minutes long. Meet at Stanton Church Rooms. Well-behaved dogs are permitted on short leads. There is some on street parking or you can park further along the road at the Community Centre. There are toilets and refreshments available at the Church Rooms.

Walk and Talk with Geoffrey at Nowton Park, Bury St Edmunds

Join others for a leisurely chat and walk with others and Geoffrey around Nowton Park.  An opportunity to continue with cake and coffee after. Meet on the grass area near the car park pay machine in Nowton Park. This is a grade 2/3 walk, up to 80 minutes.

Join the Bury Walk Leaders on this Summer Solstice Walk – EVENING WALK. Take a summer evening walk to Nowton church and return to Nowton Park watching the sun set on this solstice evening. This is a grade 5 walk (please note there is a stile) and will take approximately 90 minutes. 

The meeting point is on the grass close to the cafe, near the car park payment machine at Nowton Park, IP29 5LU.

Please meet at the start of the walk at 6.45pm to start the walk at 7.00pm.

Botesdale Easy & Extended Weekly Walk

An easy, 30 minute walk suitable for people recovering from illness or wanting to begin walking for their health and wellbeing, with an extended 60 minute loop for improvers. Get more active in good company with these beginner's and improver's level walks. If the beginners walk is too challenging, we can cut it short to meet your needs on the day. Join us for tea, coffee and chat after the walk.

Meet near Park View Chapel for a 10.00 start. Parking, toilets and refreshments available at Parkview Chapel. Sorry, no dogs except assistance dogs.

This is a grade 4, 90 minute walk, meeting at the Kesgrave Scout Hut and walking to Martlesham Heath SSS( (Site of Special Scientific Interest) and back. 

Dogs on a short lead are welcome. There is free parking available at Kesgrave Scout Hall. There are toilets on this walk and refreshments to purchase. This walk is not suitable for wheelchair users due to the differing terrain at various stages on the walk. You can access this walk by public transport.

Eye circular - grade 4

 View the countryside around Eye, wooded areas, fields, river edge, sites of archaeological interest and the ancient castle mound.

Grade 4, up to 90 mins walking, inc. options to cut walk shorter for those who do not wish to complete the full walk. This walk is not wheelchair accessible.

Dogs permitted on short leads. N.B We may encounter livestock on this walk, can divert around livestock if necessary.

Car park is free, no ticket required.

If time allows we will take refreshments after the walk in Eye town centre - which includes cafe's and a chocolaterie. Toilets available in Eye town centre only.

Walk around Stoke by Nayland , a countryside walks from the village centre

Join Chris on a grade 5, 90 minute walk around Stoke by Nayland. Walk through fields and lanes of the valley of the river Box. Dogs are not welcome on this walk, assistance dogs only. This walk will be on uneven ground at times, so please ensure appropriate footwear is worn.  

The meeting point and parking is at the Recreation Ground on School Street, CO6 4QU.

Please note there are no refreshments on this walk so you are advised to bring a drink with you. Its is not a wheelchair accessible walk and not accessible via public transport.

Graham’s Walk’ – BUS WALK - We take the bus to Hengrave and walk back to Bury via the River Lark

Graham’s Walk’ – Jump on the bus and then enjoy a walk back via the River Lark pathway

We will take the bus to Hengrave and walk back to Bury via the River Lark pathway, in memory of a former walk leader. The walk is a grade 4/5, approximately 90 minutes. 

Meet 10.05 at Bury Bus Station (IP33 1TZ) to catch the bus to Hengrave.

Refreshments and toilets available when we get back to Bury after the walk.

Parking will be in the town car parks and charges will apply, along with the bus ticket.

Walk around Long Melford through the town and surrounding fields

Join the walk leaders on a grade 5, 90 minute around the picturesque village of Long Melford. The meeting point and parking for this walk is the Old School Car Park, opposite Melford Hall, School Lane, Long Melford, CB10 9DX.

No dogs allowed on this walk due to the possibility of stiles and livestock in the fields. Please note there are no refreshments or toilets available on this walk so it is suggested you take a drink with you. There are facilities in Long Melford, should you wish to use them once you have left the walk.

This is a grade 4, 90 minute walk that goes from Martlesham Community Centre to the Creek and back. 

This walk welcomes dogs on a short lead at all times. There are toilets and refreshments available and there is parking available for all walkers. Please be considerate of other centre users when parking. This walk is accessible via public transport, but not suitable for wheelchair users due the different terrains on the walk.

Start:

Walk around Woodbridge and the surrounding areas

This is one of a series of walks that is based in and around Woodbridge and explores the beauty of the area close to the town. There are many tracks and paths in Woodbridge which these walks explore, seeing beautiful buildings and parkland, and of course walking along the stunning and historical River Deben.

This is a grade 3, 60/75 minute walk that welcomes dogs on a short lead. There is some on street parking available and also car parks close by at Kingston Playing Fields and railway station, for which there is a charge. There are toilets and refreshments available to purchase at the end of the walk. Due to the nature of the terrain, this walk is not suitable for wheelchair users. Walkers can access the walk via public transport using bus numbers 64 & 65 that have stops close by. Woodbridge train station is about a 5 minute walk away.

Fornham Loop - Follow the riverside path by River Lark to Fornham All Saints

Join the Bury Walk Leaders on this walk and follow the riverside path by River Lark across the golf course to Fornham All Saints returning via footpath and stile then path by B1106 into Bury and returning to start. This is a 90 minute, grade 5 (please note there is a stile).

There are refreshment available to purchase at the end of the walks at The Tollgate.

The meet point is in front of former Co-op in Mildenhall Road with parking behind former store or on estate opposite available for walkers.

Walk around Woodbridge and Surrounding Areas (Martlesham).

This is a grade 5, 2.5 mile, 90 minute walk around Martlesham. Please meet in the car park opposite Martlesham Church. Take road opposite Red Lion pub (on corner of Bealings Road and Main Road).  Road goes uphill and bears to the right – at that point there is a turning left onto Church Lane.  Follow that narrow road until the Church.  Car park is then on the right.

Well behaved dogs are welcome on a short lead and there is parking available. Please note there are no toilets and refreshments on this walk. It is also not accessible via public transport and not suitable for wheelchair users.

This a grade 4, 90 minute walk from The Shannon pub in Bucklesham to Brightwell Church.

Ickworth

Ickworth Park, nr Bury St Edmunds, short and long walks

Ickworth Park, Bury, long and short walks (45 mins or 90 mins). Meet at Ickworth House car park, near the bike hire, at 10.00am.

With its history traced back to Domesday, Ickworth Park has quite a story to tell.  Originally managed as a working estate, its status today as a pleasure ground dates back only as far as the early 18th century.  Walk with us round this beautiful  parkland. Refreshments at house or take a picnic.

Free parking for Wellbeing Walkers. Dogs welcome on short leads, toilets and refreshments available.

This is a Grade 3 walk, taking approximately 60 minutes - Booking advised but not essential

This is a group led by trained Walk Leaders, Steve and Jane. There is parking available to those attending the walk and also toilets available.

The Café is open for purchasing refreshments. Please note that people attending this walk are part of an organised group with OneLife Suffolk in partnership with the National Trust, and can only attend the walk. Should they wish to continue with their visit at Sutton Hoo, they will be required to re-enter as paying visitors.

Booking is essential to attend this walk. Unfortunately, anyone who turns up will not be allowed to walk due to restrictions on numbers.

This activity is delivered by Community Voluntary Services Tendring (CVST) as part of the Healthier Independent Longer Lives (HILL) project. It is designed to help people lead healthier, more independent and active lives.

This friendly group is a great way to get outside and enjoy the local area. Come along to meet new friends and get active. There is a refreshment stop during the walk and the walk starts from the Riverside Health Centre
